Dear Central Tennis Club Members,

The Provincial government has decided that outdoor recreational amenities such as community tennis clubs can reopen as of Saturday, May 22 at one minute past midnight.

Central Tennis Club will reopen the courts at 07:00 a.m. on Saturday. All court time must be booked through our online system. The online booking system has a feature that enables members to find a partner if you do not have one.

There can be no guests and no drop-ins.

At this moment, no lessons, leagues, or tournaments are permitted.

This is an evolving situation, we will keep members posted.

Have fun and stay safe!

Dear Central Tennis Club Members,

Today, April 16, the Government of Ontario announced stricter measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. This includes closing all outdoor recreational amenities such as tennis clubs.

As of April 16 at 11 pm, the winter locks will be placed on the gates of Central Tennis Club. All court bookings will be cancelled.

This is a disappointing turn of events. We will monitor the situation and update members with any changes. When we are allowed to open up again, rest assured we will notify all members of Central Tennis Club.

Stay healthy and safe!

Dear Central Tennis Club Members,

The courts are now open for play!

We have been given some further clarity today from the Provincial Government on the rules of the “Emergency Brake Shutdown” and the club will now open, as scheduled, Sunday, April 4th, 2021.

The Executive were busy this morning setting up the nets and windscreens and the courts are ready for play.

You can start booking courts online via https://www2.tennisclubsoft.com/central

The “Emergency Brake Shutdown” comes with a number of limitations in how the club operates. We have reviewed these limitations along with guidance documents from the City of Toronto (Parks, Forestry & Recreation, as well as Public Health), and the Ontario Tennis Association.

For the time being and until further notice:

  • Singles and Doubles tennis are allowed.

  • You may book one hour of Singles OR two consecutive hours of Doubles per day. We appreciate your compliance with this.

  • Please cancel the online booking if you cannot come to give room to someone else.

  • No guests allowed—only club members.

  • A maximum of 10 people can be present at the club at any given time. This means Singles or Doubles can be booked on courts 1 and 3. Court 2 can only be used for Singles. The online system will be updated to restrict for singles booking.

  • Please no loitering before or after your tennis match. Arrive at your scheduled time and leave immediately after.

  • The clubhouse and washroom will remain closed for now.

  • No instructional lessons or clinics will be allowed for now.

  • No inter or intra-club programming will go through for now. This includes the Monday Morning Round Robin, the Wednesday Night House League, the Friday Morning House League, team play (ICTA and TLTL), social events, and tournaments.

  • If you are interested in the Singles Ladder, please log into https://www2.tennisclubsoft.com/central and sign up.

The COVID-19 Checklist for Using Outdoor Recreational Amenities from Toronto Public Health will be posted on the clubhouse window. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone in the last 14 days with COVID-19 symptoms, please do not come to the club.

As the COVID-19 situation evolves and once we move into “Red Zone” (or better), we will reassess the guidance and update you accordingly on what programs and events may resume.

Have fun and stay safe!

Dear Central Tennis Club Members,

We hope you are all doing well and keeping healthy and safe.

The Executive would like to welcome all the new members who have joined Central in 2021. Thank you for your patience while on our waitlist.

The membership registration process for 2021 is now completed. We were planning to open the club on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021. However, on April 1st, the Province of Ontario announced an "Emergency Brake Shutdown" that will start at 12:01 am on April 3rd and will last for a minimum of 4 weeks.

At present, we do not fully understand how this new Provincial policy will affect Central Tennis Club. We need to evaluate these new developments and are awaiting clarifications from the City of Toronto, which may modify its COVID-19 guidance and the conditions of our club permit accordingly.

We appreciate your patience as we work through those last-minute challenges and the ever-evolving situation. Rest assured, we are doing what we can to reopen the club soon and most importantly, safely. We will be providing you with an update on opening in the coming few days.

Stay tuned and stay safe!
